Buying kids shoes?

okay is it bad that I have to get my kids new shoes so often. i just got them some in february and those still fit them but i felt that they needed new shoes. and not only that i have to get them name brand shoes. even when they were babies. i just do not think that generic shoes are good enough for my kids. it really does get expensive but i cant help it. what do you all think?

Buying kids shoes?
this is what i always say when people ask me why i buy shoes all the time....

cinderella is proof that shoes can change your life. hahaha.
Reply:I think that it is just fine, they are your kids, at one time my daughter had 22 pair of shoes that fit her and she was only 2, so I know where you are coming from here. She is 18 now and she probably has 50 pairs of shoes that fit her
Reply:i think that pricy ones are worth the price b/c they last enough time by the time you need to get them another pair i mean my daughter is only 5 months but for me price is nothing as long as i like them ill buy them nomatter if there $5 or $100 as long as i like the style
Reply:I used to work for Stride Rite children shoes. Good shoes are very important for foot development. They don%26#039;t have to cost a great deal of money but a good shoe is worth the effort.

Here is a general rule of thumb for certain brands

Stride Rite go up a half a size for growing room.

Nike go up a full size for growing room

Reebok doesn%26#039;t seem to stay as consistent it can be anywhere from a half to a full size up.

I agree with your statement about generic shoes, I am with you on that one. They don%26#039;t offer the needed support for growing feet.
Reply:I think that as long as you aren%26#039;t going into debt for your children%26#039;s shoes, then it doesn%26#039;t matter what you put them in or how often.
Reply:If you can afford them why not?
Reply:buy shoes that are a size bigger so they can grow in them
Reply:I see so many babies with Air Jordan%26#039;s and it makes me laugh! The little tykes cant even walk yet! That extra cash could have been spent on taking their kids to learn something at the aquarium or museum or it could have been used to take better care of their health...instead the money was spent on fashion!

As your kids grow then yes...I think buying QUALITY shoes is important. Not all brand name shoes are made with quality.

They however do NOT need new shoes simply because trendier ones came out. If the shoes still fit and the quality has not been compromised then there is no good reason to buy them new shoes.

If the shoes are dirty and you don%26#039;t like that...then clean them.

If you want to buy them new shoes simply because you want to give them a new gift then by all means...go ahead. But consider this...what else could you buy with that money for your children? Perhaps not buying a new pair of shoes so often you would be able to spend the money on activities that you can do with your children to help promote a healthier relationship with them.

Buying material items that one does not NEED does not do this. The time you spend with your children at the zoo or even in Disneyland is priceless and the memories will last a life time...you cant say that about the shoes!

It is a nice feeling though when you can provide for them as much as you do huh!
Reply:I only buy my kids really good shoes, not b/c of the brand name but i feel they need a good shoe with good soles and good support on the inside. Keds. stride rites, Nikes. I personally wait til they are too small to buy more but if you can afford it and want to do it then go for it! Give the old ones to a friend in need or sale them to get some of your money back to buy more!
Reply:Did you know that a great deal of %26quot;generic%26quot; shoes are made at the same manufacturer as your name brand shoes, using the same materials? Something ot think about...all you are paying for is the name not necessarily the quality of item.
Reply:If you can afford it, then rock on. But a warning, your kids may fall into a groove of only having to have the brand names, and someday they may not be able to afford such, and have a poor idea of how to manage money becuase they always go for the more expensive.
Reply:Yah, I find that generic shoes just fall apart and some aren%26#039;t good for foot development which is important. We always buy good quality shoes, it is worth it.

I usually take them to consignment when they grow out of them, that way I do get some money back.

Just think, people spend more on lattes than kids shoes LOL

The lib would be worse due to the volume of gue associated with it.

But tar baby is more ambiguous and could be larger than expected.

Letting baby visit married Dad?

A friend has a young baby (almost crawling) by a married man. I don%26#039;t know if she knew he was married or not when she conceived, but that is irrelevant. The man remained married to his wife. He has asked to take the baby for an overnight visit. The wife has been openly hostile to my friend since finding out about her husband%26#039;s affair. My friend is concerned about her baby%26#039;s safety. The husband has been paying child support and health insurance. If you were in her shoes, would you let him take the baby for an overnight visit? Her concern is that the wife might injure the baby. I personally would advise her not to, but I thought I would get other opinions. I%26#039;ve seen the wife%26#039;s hostility.

Letting baby visit married Dad?
No, at least wait until the child can talk and tell what happens.
Reply:There is nothing wrong with him seeing the baby @ her place not his.If I were in her shoes I would be very selfish, she went through a lot to have a baby only to put her in danger like this..

She should be very careful..
Reply:Not overnight. Scary story but here goes my partners aunty was with a very rich guy who she got pregnant too very soon after the baby was born he left her for another woman. The other woman could not have any kids. When the child was 2 the rich guy (father) took child for overnight visit and never returned him. When mother of child went to collect him she was told that he was keeping the son and that if she ever tried to contact him he would harm her other 2 sons. She was emotionally unstable and poor so had no money to fight him and also scared for the safety of her other children. Her son would be 16 now and has 2 brothers and a sister he has never seen.

I%26#039;m not saying that your friends situation is the same but it%26#039;s a true story.
Reply:the hostility form the married woman is understandable. she sees your friend as a person that almost ruined her marriage. that is not a bad thing. she feels strongly about her marriage. your friend should trust her gut. if he has had visitation in the past, than everything should be ok. he has shown that he cares for the baby simply by paying support. it will be a hard night for mom, but i think it would be a good thing. this could be the opening door to a long and healthy relation ship between daughter and father.
Reply:If i was her, i won%26#039;t let the father taking the baby out of my sight.
Reply:i would let him and her come to my house with me there to visit. i would give them pricavy, but i wouldnt let them take the baby out of my sight
Reply:It%26#039;s a pain in the butt - but if he wants to see and have overnight visitations, let him go to court and file for such - and have your friend voice her concerns over this...

I feel for the guy%26#039;s wife - imagine that you not only found out that your husband was cheating - but that he also had a kid - and now he wants to bring that child, that constant reminder of his infidelity into her home...

The tough part is that he deserves the time with the child - but his wife? I%26#039;m thinking she isn%26#039;t too concerned about it. I don%26#039;t know if she would harm the child - but if your friend goes to court to have a visitation set up - then at least she has someplace to turn to if the overnights aren%26#039;t working out.
Reply:Here is some expert advice for you coming from the wife of the person in this example. My hubby got a co-worker pregnant when our older kids were 2 and 6 and I was in the position of this woman. I was very hostile toward the %26#039;mother%26#039; of the new child for a time. Long story short: I not once even considered the little guy to be anything other than what he is, a beautiful young child. From the moment I looked at him and could see the resemblance to my other children i knew I would love him as well. I adore him and often let him get away with murder because he isn%26#039;t with us as much as our other kids, This little guy is now 8 years old and divides his time between the two houses. We have been keeping him for overnight visits since he was an infant. He goes on every vacation with us and believe it or not his mother and I often get together to discuss the kids. I have formed a friendship with her and I love that she is such a good mom to my little guy. We have never used the word step or half or any of that crap in our house. I tell everyone that I have 4 children because I do. Please try to build a relationship with this woman. It won%26#039;t be easy but your daughter needs to know her father just as my son needs his. It can work if you make the effort. We all had to swallow some pride but at the end of the day, my 3rd child is more than worth it. Her hostility toward you is only natural. If you can just show her that you no longer pose a threat to her family she will come around. Does the dad have other children? How is the wife with those kids? I hope this works out for you as well as it has for us. I wouldn%26#039;t change my life for anything. The emotional pain was more than worth it. Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions. Good Luck!
Reply:Well, she has to give the man the benefit of the doubt in his ability to keep the child safe until she sees otherwise. The best thing she can do is be cordial with the wife and establish an understanding as far as the kid.

What should I do for the big blister on my baby's foot?

My baby had recently outgrown his size 3 shoes, and I didn%26#039;t realize it. When I took those shoes off him, he had a huge blister going from the top of his big toe all the way to the ball of his foot. It%26#039;s starting to turn really red/purple now, and I don%26#039;t know if that%26#039;s because it%26#039;s infected or what. Should I keep it clean and covered, or let the blister get some air and take it%26#039;s course (and possibly not stay clean)????????

What should I do for the big blister on my baby%26#039;s foot?
keep it clean and dry, and don%26#039;t put shoes on your baby for a while, just socks. If it is cold you can put a soft slipper type shoe on him. Please try to pay more attention to your baby, as his feet will continue to grow rapidly.
Reply:dont pop blisters as it can cause scaring. leave them to go down of there own. if you think anything is infected go to your doctors
Reply:Don%26#039;t pop it. A blister is natures band aid, and the liquid inside is nature healing medicine. Whe it dries, it will peel naturally and then the skin underneath will be healed.

Moms selling baby stuff on ebay?

So, I%26#039;m looking to make about an extra $400 bucks a month, I%26#039;m a stay at home mom but we need extra income. I can%26#039;t get a job outside my home, but I%26#039;ve heard that Ebay is a great way to make some money. I have a few questions though.

First of all, how much can I really expect to make selling things? Is making $400 dollars a month on Ebay unrealistic? Be honest, I%26#039;ve never used Ebay before so I have no idea how much money people will pay for things.

Second, what kind of baby/kids stuff have you sold on Ebay that people really wanted? I have a ton of baby girl clothes, some of them designer names, like Christian Dior and Tommy Hilfiger. I also have toys, baby bathtubs, swings, seats, a bottle warmer, shoes, and a ton of other stuff.

Third, what does selling through Ebay entail? Do they take some money out of what you sell the product for? How do ensure you get paid from the other person before sending it out?

I need some other Mom%26#039;s opinions that have sold on Ebay,

Thanks!

Moms selling baby stuff on ebay?
red all these sites re:selling. fees, paypal

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/index.ht...

you really need more than a #10 Feedback after your eBay ID rating to get people to be willing to trust you to buy from you

It takes many hours with taking pictures, downloading them, listing, selling, packing, getting the packing materials, mailing to become sucessful

Took me 2.5 hours to list 25 items for sale and people say that was remarkably fast
Reply:everything costs a price/percentage to sell it on ebay.

The basic starting price to list something (from $1.00-$9.99) is 40 cents plus a percentage of the ending price.

As well the most commonly accepted form of payment on ebay is paypal. They take their fees out as well, even though they are owned by ebay.

To sell on ebay you will need a credit card to register and a bit of common sense but its not to hard.

Ex: don%26#039;t post something at 2:00 in the afternoon because it will end at 2:00 in the afternoon, and well, there aren%26#039;t a lot of people home at their computers at that time!

*Oh I also recomend you get a cheap digital %26quot;mail%26quot; scale (I got mine on ebay for like $10.00.) That way you can weigh the item and then just calculate how much it will cost right online. The buyer is the person who pays for the shipping cost but if you think it only weighs 2 pounds and tell them the cost to ship 2 lbs, they pay that then you find out it really weighs 3lbs then its going to have to come out of your pocket. This way you won%26#039;t have to take it to the post office to see how much it weighs.

I sell on ebay and how much you make depends on what you sell.

Sometimes things go for cheap, and sometimes you get something good out if it.

My best suggestion is save the box!! anything you want to resell sells better with the box.

Ex: I sold my sons car seat, with box and manual for $10.00 more then I paid for it, go figure.

Ebay is a great way to make extra money, I have sold almost ALL my sons old things on ebay as he outgrows them.

However if you are only planning on selling off your old childrens stuff you may not get $400.00 a month. But some money is better then none, right?

Really how much you make is dependant on how many items you have up there to sell. 40 items selling for $10.00 each for example will make you 400 in the month, but if you only have 100 baby items then how long will that last you??

You could space it out and make less a month and the items will last longer but again its an issue.

What I have found that works is to find something other then just baby stuff to resell.

There are a lot of people who join mary kay or get products like baby slings in bulk and resell them on ebay instead of to people they meet. Some people resell old videos from librarys or video stores during their sales when they are getting rid of old stock.

Others make stuff like candles or soap. There are a lot of options to look into.

But I will also tell you ebay does take some work. Its not just click and go. It takes some time to put them up on ebay as each item you have to take its photo (most items without photos don%26#039;t sell) and fill out the information about it. And when its done you have to ship it. The more time/items you have the more you will make.

*addition: You do not have to ship the item out until it is totally paid for (ie: you have the money/the checked cleared, ect. not just them telling you that they sent payment.)

It is free to sign up with paypal (which most people use) but they take their fees. You can set paypal up right to your bank account and can move your money straight into your account if you want.

Another thing I sugget to protect yourself is to put delivery confirmation on EVERYTHING you ship. It costs 45 cents more, include it in the shipping price you charge the buyer, it gives you a tracking number through the post office. If the person tries to scam you and claims they never got the item, ebay will make you refund them the money, they automatically will withdraw the money from your account, you are out of luck!

If you have a delivery confirmation number though they can see it was shipped and you won%26#039;t be scammed (I%26#039;ve had this happen) Ebay doesn%26#039;t really care if you have a post office recipit, they just want that tracking number. Also if something happend (like the label on the package falls off) you can find the item and have them put a new label on it, it won%26#039;t get lost in the post office.

*another addition* Also try and save money on shipping items buy reuseing shipping materials. Get boxes at target when they are stocking the shelves and wrap them in a brown paper bag instead of paying $5.00 to buy a box. If you get things in the mail in padded envelops cut them open nicely and then they can be taped closed with packaging tape. Get gifts wrapped in tissue paper? save it to wrap around things you sell that might need a bit of padding.
Reply:i am an ebay power seller so i will try to give you some good info. It not unrealistic to make that much a month but you have to figure in costs. You get charged a listing fee as well as a finail value fee. On top of that you have shipping cost and credit card processing fees. Even if you use paypal over half your customers will pay with a acredit card and you will loose money in fees. As for shipping even if your customer pays shipping you must take into account that maybe you get the weight wrong. Its hard to know the exact weight until you pack it for shipping. i would say about 40% of the time i loose $1-2. here is my monthly average.

As far as what will sell that changes all the time. search for things you might want to sell and check the completed box over on the left. That will pull up the last 90 day sof completed auctions so you can see what they did and did not sell for. Unless you get stuff dirt cheep its hard to make money on ebay because on one is willing to pay retail price for something. Good luck
Reply:Becky B is 100% correct. Also it is not just a one time sell,in order to profit you must continue selling. Most sell daily for months before they see a noticable profit.
Reply:Hi, I am a stay at home mom, just like you. I started selling on eBay 4 years ago, and am now a Silver Level Powerseller and have sold over 12,000 items.

How much can you expect to make? I made about $600 my first month selling things I already had. Now, I make an average of $3,500 profit each month.

Second, it sounds like you have alot of good things to sell. Alot of other moms have asked me the same questions, so I put this together to help them get started:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Stay-At-Home-Moms-Gu...

You will find lots of answers and good ideas in this guide.

Third, there are fees involved. Go to ebay, click on HELP, and look up FEES. The fees are reasonable - remember, ebay is exposing your product to over 200 million users - you%26#039;d never get that many people to come to a garage sale! And yes, always collect money before shipping anything - whether it is paypal or a check.

If you can navigate this yahoo questions site, you can navigate eBay. It is very user friendly.

Again, the guide above covers all this info and more.

Please contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Good luck!
Reply:I am a stay at home mom too and I just got started selling on ebay. So far I have sold only a few things (I spend most of my time buying lol) but I have made a good amount. What people are looking for is brand names like tommy, gap, the children%26#039;s place, etc. new with tags helps a bunch but you can still sell used clothing which goes better in big lots unless it is in great condition and really cute. all the other things you mentioned will sell good too. also maternity clothes go over good and diapers, formula, coupons, wipes, anything you might have extra of around the house. baby samples sell very well. do some research on ebay. look for some auctions that are like what you are wanting to sell to find out how you should list your items. go to help in ebay to find answers to your selling questions. ebay does charge small fees for listing, extra pictures, and they get a small % of what you make too. But not much. Good luck. I have alot of fun selling. Oh, go to stores when they have sales and see if you can get stuff dirt cheap then resale it for profit. That is what I am starting to do. Also if you can buy wholesale lots and resale the items. You can make way more than $400 a month once you learn how it all works!
Reply:Not an eBay seller. But, if you really want to know about eBay, why not ask eBay. This link should help:

http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Se...

They spell out how to sell, how to list,

This link gives you a chance to click on a video that goes into a lot of detail. http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/news...

Bottom line, though, is baby clothes sell dirt cheap. People can get them at yard sales for as little as 25 cents. So, they won%26#039;t pay lots no matter what designer names.

Ensuriing that you get paid is easy: don%26#039;t send it untli you get the payment, and if the payment is a check be sure that the check clears before you send it.

What about Pamperer Chef, or Avon, or any of those type of sales instead.
Reply:I REALLY suggest getting a book on how to sell on ebay and then go to ebay and read everything there twice. Making $400 a month steadily on ebay will require alot of work and time. Yes..there are fees. People usually want to pay via Paypal so look into that as well.

There is much to know that just can%26#039;t be explained here.
Reply:i may not be a mom yet can tell you from buying and selling baby items on e-bay i love it they the customer pays you before you send out the item e-bay is a easy no initial cost way to set yourself up to make some great money i started off selling soem extra kids stuff i had around one month and 1,200 dollars later i was off and running make sure to always list your shipping costs ie the buyer buys an item then also pays for the shipping costs the more items you sell on e-bay the better and the quicker you can sell them so i wish you the best of luck in your e-bay experince but here is athought why sell just baby stuff? use e-bay as a yard sale also look on there you can find out what other pepole are buying and for how much e-bay will help you through every step of the way
Reply:you can make usd8375 from internet too. How bout that? Willing to try?..It cost you nothing!

http://googlemoney-en.blogspot.com/2007/...
Reply:Selling maternity clothes, and baby clothes in lots works pretty well.

Check out http://ebay-selling-guide.blogspot.com/ to get some ideas on how to set up a good auction.
Reply:your best bet is to browse ebay and see what type of stuff is selling under baby items so you can get a rough idea as to what certain things are selling for then you will be able to see if it is something you want or think you might be interested in. I can tell you that my husband has been an ebay member for quite a while and whenever we have something that we just don%26#039;t need, we put it on ebay and someone always buys it. It may not be for much but it is not in my house anymore. Plus ebay is always having listing fee specials where you can list items cheaper than normal rates. It would be my suggestion to just browse ebay to get a feel for it.
Reply:you could probably take what oney you made selling your own stuff and turn around and buy new stuff to sell. check out this seller.

she sells an ebook about how she makes so much money. i bought it from her
Reply:I do not think that you will make an extra $400 selling a month on ebay, you have to pay to sell on ebay and it is not cheap.

How can i photoshop shoes?

i wanna photoshop a baby picture i want to edit the shoes to a nike shoe or something like that is there any way to do this? i dont have much experience with photoshop

How can i photoshop shoes?
There is an icon with a pen nib on the left hand side of the stage. Click on it. A bar will appear on the top with all the presets available. You will see a square with points at the edge and a pen in the middle, click on this. Use this pen to outline what you want (the shoe). You must remember to enclose the shoe ( you will know when you do this because the dots will disappear and all you will see is a line around it). Once that is done go to the right hand side of the screen and click on the tab named paths, it is where the layers tab is. You will find %26quot;work path%26quot; in the small window and a rectangle of the path you just created. Right click on this rectangle and select %26quot; make selection. Set the %26#039;feather radius%26#039; to 1 and click ok. Hit %26quot;ctrl + x%26quot; that should cut out the shoe. To put in another shoe you may have to transform the scale and distort a bit to fit. It is best to use another layer for that. In order to transform it it needs to be selected. If it%26#039;s in it%26#039;s own layer that%26#039;s easy. Just hit %26quot;ctrl + a%26quot; go to edit and down to transform and choose the type of deform that you want. Have fun and if you have any more questions post again.

What is a good shoe to buy a baby who is learning to walk?

I think StrideRite shoes are a really good brand. They are made of soft leather and they give complete ankle support. Oddly, my son started walking in these shoes a week after I bought it for him. He had already pulled himself up and was doing the booty bouce next to it, but when I bought the Stride Rite first walking shoes, I guess he felt more secure. They have shoes for everystage even crawling. Look up a website or go to a local mall, JCPenney, Nordstrom and some others carry them. Some malls have their own store. They have been around for decades.

What is a good shoe to buy a baby who is learning to walk?
No shoes is your best bet, it is much better for their feet and for learning to walk. If you must put shoes on your babies feet try robeez or the likes. There are many companies out there making the all leather soft sole shoe. They will range in price from about $13 - $30 depending on what brand you choose and can be found in stores or on line.
Reply:any shoes you can walk in

Well Good Luck!
Reply:Bare feet is the best.
Reply:We bought our daughter stride rite. $45 shoes. She walked better with out them. And she grew out of them FAST. I would not recommend spending a lot on shoes if you do buy them, but the one%26#039;s we bought were very good quality, but i do not believe they aided in helping her walk what-so-ever.
Reply:Try no shoes at all at home. If the baby is just learning to walk, he needs only his bare feet for awhile.
Reply:Start with something soft. Babies don%26#039;t actually need shoes when they%26#039;re learning to walk. I really only put shoes on my son when we would go outside somewhere.. to protect his feet. You should definately let your baby take the lead and try not to put shoes on too early. good luck!
Reply:I always heard the soft shoes are better and I just recently saw some shoes with little squeakers in the heel, so them will learn to walk on the entire foot, not just the toes.

What is a good shoe to buy a baby who is learning to walk?

stride rite tennis shoes. they are specifically made for little ones trying to learn to walk.

What is a good shoe to buy a baby who is learning to walk?
bobux, hands down. when a child is learning to walk, they need thin shoes that are flexible to help them learn to balance. bobux are made in the UK and are wonderful, my son adores them. they stay on, have no laces, and very thin while still providing protection, and are made with deerskin dyed with vegetable dyes only. (ever see a baby sucking on his feet? imagine what goes into his system when hes sucking on baby nikes put together with synthetic glues and harsh chemical dyes.)
Reply:Stride Rite shoes are good and nowadays, doctors are recommending a good durable sneaker. My doctor recommened Nike Air. I like Stride Rite - but they can be hot on the baby%26#039;s feet in the summer. I think the best suggestion is to get the baby something sturdy and supportive - but make sure they%26#039;re not all hot and uncomfortable - just cause everyone else did it doesnt mean you have to.
Reply:those white or black boot looking shoes with the hard bottom. Those help with keeping the babies feet flat and help promote prosture.
Reply:doesnt matter b/c they only are mainly on their tippytoes anyways and a doctor will tell you the same.
Reply:Babies best learn to walk when they are barefoot! Having stiff shoes on their feet impedes the natural movement of the foot. Most grown ups are more comfortable barefooted, so of course babies are too! However, babies do need shoes when they are outside and such. There has been a great deal of research showing that soft-soled shoes are best for little ones learning to walk, as they do not confine the natural movement of the foot. Some brands you might want to look at are Preshoolians, Cutebabyshoes, or Wiggees. Robeez are available at many boutiques and they are nice too.
Reply:a small one.

unless your child has big feet.
Reply:I have been through alot with this question. I was worried that my kids would be bow legged. Alll the pros have told me NOT to put shoes on kids who are learning to walk. It seemed to work just fine.
Reply:Stride Rite. They are sooo comfortable and they help their balance which is a big plus for when they are begining to walk. They can be expensive though.
Reply:really any shoe it dose not matter

So Good Luck!
Reply:Stride rights i think. My cousin and I were talking about her son walking and i think thats what she said he wore. Hes 13 months and walks great.
Reply:The best shoe to buy a baby that is barely learning to walk woulb be in my opinion any high top shoe thats also like for example, booties etc. I find that since ther high top they help them keep their balance. I have 2 girls and those types of shoes helped them out alot.
Reply:STRIDE RITE!!!!!!!!!!!! Feet are very important so the little extra you will spend is worth the investment.

Buy their %26quot;walking shoe%26quot;. While it isn%26#039;t the cutest shoe on the market, it is very comfortable for the baby and specifically designed for the newly walking foot.

mb
Reply:Both of mine learned to walk in Nike Air Jordans. :)
Reply:the shoe should be high on his ankle .the best show to buy is tennishoes.
Reply:My older son has very wide feet, and we found that the New Balance tennis shoes worked great for him. They have good support, and the soles are flexible enough for him to move comfortably.
Reply:First of all, don%26#039;t buy a used pair of walking shoes. I did this and they were worn out on one side which isn%26#039;t good for learning how to walk.

I keep hearing about %26quot;Stride Right%26quot; shoes. Then again, do you really need to pay $30 for a pair of shoes that your child will outgrow in 6 months? I would ask your pediatrician. I would think that any NEW leather walking shoe would be fine.
Reply:I%26#039;m with the Stride Rite crowd! My son also had wide feet as a baby, and a lot of other toddler brands have a one-size-fits-all shoe, which can%26#039;t be comfortable for a little one with a bigger foot.

I agree that they are expensive and rarely go on sale, it seems, but there are a few outlets not so far away for Stride Rite - if those are available, give that a try.

Size 3 shoes?

At approximately what age does a baby girl start wearing a size 3 shoe? I am looking through all the new summer catalogues and would like to order my 8 month old daughter some shoes but they only start at size 3...?

Size 3 shoes?
at 6 months i took my daughter into stride rite for a crib shoe and they fitted her with a size 3. shes almost 9 months and she still wears a 3. because some babys have chunky/big feet you should take her in to be fitted.
Reply:don%26#039;t buy anything in advance. every time i do, i regret it. kids feet grow as they grow and it%26#039;s very unpredictable. one time i bought my daughter 3 pairs of shows in advance at a stride rite outlet store. she went through a growth spurt and only wore them for 6 weeks! i usually buy 2 pairs at a time. tennis shoes and and a semi-nice pair.
Reply:every child is different my eldest had size 3 when she got her first shoes from clarks n she was 11mnth, if u have a next catalogue they have a feet size chart at back where u can place u babys feet on n see the size they better that bit bigger than to small. if not take her to a shop where sell baby shoes n try some on 1st before u order. hope this helps x
Reply:I took my daughter to Clarkes to have her feet measured at 9 months, as she was crawling then and she is a size 2. Try Clarkes
Reply:i%26#039;m not sure as everyone is different.....so i suggest that you take her to be fitted
Reply:Babies are all sooooo different. My daughter wore a size 3 at one year, when she started walking. My son would technichally wear a size 3 now, at 6 months, but he%26#039;s obviously not walking, so he doesn%26#039;t need shoes. Just wait until she needs them, then take her into a store to have her properly sized. Good luck~
Reply:my 8 month old is in size 2 so, if I were you I would take her into walmart and measure her foot just to be sure and if not, she will grow into them
Reply:when their foot is big enough for a size three, my baby is 1 now and i dont put shoes on her and she would only fit a two now - she has short fat feet. best thing to do is try on the shoe and if it fits then buy it if not then dont
Reply:Only past one year 2months

Again with the question of are these shoes, to much for a shirt like this??

OK...so i have asked this question for another shirt but what about this one...

its a Chocolate colored BabyPhat halter with gold details...

many ppl told me to match this shirt up with a gold ankle strap wedge...but i%26#039;m not to fond of wedges for what ever reason...so i put a gold heel to it and i feel like i%26#039;m goin a lil over board, or its jus a lil to much for a halter...so i was wondering if it was too much and u may have another suggestion, or it was cute and jus fine

so here%26#039;s what the shirt looks like (but not the right color), jus givin u a full view

here%26#039;s the color i bought...

Again with the question of are these shoes, to much for a shirt like this??
I LOVVVVE anything Baby Phat, they always have hot stuff. I think the shoes are really cute with the chocolate brown shirt, too. Again, I would pair with demin or a jean skirt.
Reply:Socks are what matter most.
Reply:Well what pants are you wearing with this outfit? I would definitely suggest going with the top shoe that has the tie up the ankle straps although those can get annoying. I don%26#039;t see anything wrong with pairing that shirt with a strappy sandal. You can dress up or down that shirt however you like. It%26#039;s all about the shoes and the bottoms.

Make sure to wear gold accessories and gold/brown eye make-up.
Reply:omg that would be so cute with a skirt, a little longer almost to the knee a little flowy.

What size shoe does a newborn baby wear?

It depends on where you are getting the clothes from. Most newborn sizes will be labeled either Newborn or 0-3 months. However, it%26#039;s really hard to tell b/c my baby was born weighing 8lbs and some of the newborn clothes were to big for her while others fit her just right.

What size shoe does a newborn baby wear?
Preferably none. Hard soled shoes delay walking by not giving a baby full use of how teh feet were itnended to be used.
Reply:my baby doesn%26#039;t walk so he does not need shoes!!
Reply:they take a size NB in america. however, the APA suggests not putting shoes on your baby until they begin to walk outside. if you would like them for pictures, get the soft ones. but bare baby feet are soo cute.
Reply:A size 0. but newborns don%26#039;t really need shoes. They can interfere with normal foot development at such a young age if worn regularly. Better to stick with cute socks and booties and save the shoes for special occasions like christening and the like.
Reply:Anything that is soft bottom and says newborn on it. Booties socks and like little shoes that go with outfits would be fine for a newborn.
Reply:Usually a 0. There is nothing wrong with a baby wearing shoes. My son wore shoes the day he came home until he started walking. He walked early and nothing was wrong with his feet. My pediatrician said it was ok. Where do you people get your information.
Reply:Newborn baby really doesn%26#039;t have a shoe size but if u go to a shoe store and look for some it would usually be newborn,1,or 0
Reply:They dont wear shoes, just socks or padders are best. Shoes before a child walks are bad for them x
Reply:new borns do not need to wear shoes. it will effect their feet in the long run. they have newborn size shoes if you want to put them on for a picture or something, but other than that, socks are perfect for their little feet!
Reply:Ususally Newborn shoes or size 0, unless your baby has bigger feet. On some of the tags they have little size charts that you put the babys foot up to and it tells you the best size. But my daughter always kicked hers off so they didnt last long. Good Luck!!

For people who already have had a baby :] Do I have everything I need?

My baby boy is due in May, here%26#039;s a list of what I have so far, am I missing anything?

.Clothes (onsies, sleepers, socks, mittens, sweaters, pants, hats, soft shoes)

.Blankets, bath towels, wash cloths

.Baby products (oil, wipes, lotion, soap, powder, cream, q tips etc.)

.Carseat

.Stroller

.Diaper bag (already packed :])

.Crib (sheets, mobile, positioner...)

.Changing table

.Bouncer

.Swing

.Jumper

.Car mirror and shades

.Baby safety set (nail clippers, thermometer, baby medicine...)

.Baby book and photo albums

.Bassinet

.Baby bathtub

.Toy chest (full of toys)

.Bottles and breast pump

Things I haven%26#039;t bought yet and are pretty sure I am going to are:

.High chair

.Gates for his playroom

.Pillow for breastfeeding

.Contents for overnight bag for the hospital, I have the bag with a few things in it...but not everything yet.

Am I forgetting anything? I thinks that%26#039;s everything..

Thanks :]

For people who already have had a baby :] Do I have everything I need?
I agree with everything Arlene G said. It sounds like you have pretty much everything covered for the baby so don%26#039;t forget about yourself. This is coming from experience because no one even told me to take any of those things for myself. My poor husband was always having to run to the store for extra things.

I would suggest bringing something to keep all the paperwork in. You will have lots and it%26#039;s so easy to just put them in one place so you aren%26#039;t worried about losing or forgetting them.

Also have some healthy snacks for when the baby comes home because I know I wasn%26#039;t able to eat for more than 5 mins at a time :). Escpecially because she had colic.

You might want to get some baby gas drops just in case.

And this is a personal choice but I now have a wrap for the baby and wish I had looked into them sooner so maybe you could check out those. But other than that it seems as if you are all set. Congratulations!
Reply:Maybe a baby monitor?? Even if baby is going to be sleeping in your room for awhile, it%26#039;s nice to have when they%26#039;re napping during the day, so you can get other things done around and house, and still be able to hear when he%26#039;s up....but your list so far is pretty complete, kudos!! And congratulations!!

Only other things I can think of would be maybe a baby sling or carrier?? The baby sling was a life saver with my last baby....
Reply:Sounds like you have everything you might possibly need. Honestly, I didn%26#039;t use everything I had and I think I had everything you do.
Reply:Get a sling or wrap (or both!). You won%26#039;t regret it!
Reply:You%26#039;ve got the baby better than covered. But you forget yourself.

Most people do. Which is why I always buy gifts for the new mother instead of baby clothes.

The breast feeding pillow is good but I%26#039;d recommend a body pillow, too. Even if you have the easiest delivery in the world you are going to be sore. A body pillow is a great thing for supporting all those achey bits and using between your knees.

You also need a donut pillow. And Tucks medicated pads. The achiest bit is going to be your very thing and it is going to love you if you treat it tenderly by sitting on that donut pillow and putting a nice cool Tucks pad in your undies to take the sting out.

I don%26#039;t know what you have in your bag but you must have pajamas. Not some fiddley nursing gown with bows and ribbons...but a pair of comfortable sweat pant type pants (better to keep those humongous pads for the after bleeding in place) and a top that buttons down the front for easy access.

If you are a bath type of person then get yourself lots of smelly girly bath salt type things, too.

And snack food. Nursing is going to make you hungry. And hospital food sucks as much as it ever did. Stock up or make a list for your husband for when the event happens.

Ice packs would be a good thing to have on hand, too. Your breasts are going to swell up like balloons when your milk comes in and for some people this is not a pleasant experience. For some people (like me all 5 times) is hurts like and SOB and feels like I%26#039;m carting around a couple of bruised boulders. You could get lucky there though.

That%26#039;s about all I can think of. Good luck.
Reply:bottle sterilizer (microwave steamer) comes in handy unless you want to boil them all the time.... , you do have covers for the changing table pad, right? Boppy makes a great one sold at babiesrus.com with a quick clean middle so you dont have to wash the whole thing when it gets dirty.....
Reply:Definitely get a cool mist humidifier. It%26#039;s the best thing for baby%26#039;s little stuffy noses. Also, breast pads, lanolin, sterilizer (Medela makes a great sterilizing bag that can be used like 10 times... You fill it with 2 oz. of water and your pump parts or bottles, stick it in the microwave, and ta-da - sterilized!), Medela quick clean wipes for pumping anywhere where you can%26#039;t immediately wash the pump parts, a ring sling or wrap or mei tai, and don%26#039;t forget your boppy! That was my lifesaver when in the hospital. You%26#039;re so sore that bending in different ways can really hurt and the Boppy really helps.
Reply:I would say you have more than enough, lol. Only things I can think of is lots of diapers and wipes! You may also want to get a cool mist vaporizer or humidifier, helps the baby breath easier. Maybe you should also check into some baby medicines. At Walmart, they have a little kit that has things such as infant tylenol, mylicon drops and diaper rash ointment. All of that stuff comes in very, very handy. Good luck with the baby!!
Reply:Wait until your baby arrives to get anything else. Your baby will have his/her own likes and dislikes and you don%26#039;t want to be left with a lot of things you won%26#039;t use. For example, some babies only like one brand of bottles/teats and others don%26#039;t like a swing or bouncer. There is an endless amount of baby merchandise available and you don%26#039;t need to buy all of it!
Reply:breast pads so you don%26#039;t leak through your clothes

baby hair brush
Reply:Here are a few things I wish I would have had or known about PRIOR to bringing my little girl home:

A SwaddleMe by Kiddopotomus – they make it so wonderfully easy to swaddle your little one (which they LOVE) and are only $10 at Babies R Us

Pack of cloth diapers or cheap receiving blankets to use as burping cloths

Little velcro booties – socks never stay on!

Gerber makes little newborn hats in a 3-pack which my daughter wears EVERY day (found them at K-Mart)

Depending on where you live, a cover for the carseat to protect baby from the wind or cold is great. Kiddopotomus also makes one that I ordered from Target

Boppy pillow for breastfeeding is great

Hope that helps! From one new mom to another!

BTW - You definitely won%26#039;t need a high chair yet. You%26#039;re not feeding solids until about 5 months, and a newborn can%26#039;t sit in those anyways. You have time to get that.

11 months old and shoes?

whenever i try putting shoes on my 11 month old baby girl, she curls up her toes really tight therefore making it impossible to get them on her feet without hurting her; what would be the best way to get her to stop doing this and start wearing shoes? HELP PLEASE!!!!

11 months old and shoes?
First off, is she walking yet?

The best way for a child to learn to walk is without shoes. And without socks if you can allow it. It helps strengthen and develop all the muscles and tendons in her foot.

If she%26#039;s walking and you want to take her outside the house, then you will have to put shoes on her, or carry her until she%26#039;s ready to wear them. I wouldn%26#039;t force them on her if she really doesn%26#039;t like it. Take her to a footwear store and get her measured for a good sneaker. Like a brand name, I know this will hurt the pocket book, but at least it will be a comfy shoe for her first ones. I did this with my son, then I just bought the 5 and 8 dollar sneaks at Walmart ever since.

Good luck, and dont%26#039; force it if she%26#039;s not showing signs of readiness.
Reply:don%26#039;t put anyone,my Friends twins didn%26#039;t have shoes until, she walked they are not necessary until them just use thick socks and blankets let her feet develop.
Reply:She shouldn%26#039;t be wearing shoes until she has been walking confidently for a few months at least.

If she has been walking for a long time, then are they the right sized shoes...are they too hard on her feet?

Perhaps she just likes being a barefoot princess?
Reply:Try open toed sandals, maybe she doesn%26#039;t like to have her toes covered, the sandal will allow for her to have plenty of room.

Hope this helps.
Reply:Unless your little girl is walking and walking well you shouldn%26#039;t be putting shoes on her feet. Maybe the shoes hurt her or are to tight. Shoes for children of this age should be professionally fitted. We all need our feet for a very long time so we must keep them from being damaged.

Where is the best place to buy toddler clothes/shoes?

The baby I%26#039;m watching is ten months but quickly outgrowing the 18 month clothes I had for him, and with the weather getting colder needs some long sleeves anyways. Where is the best place to look? What is a normal price? How long can I expect him to stay in one size of clothes? Is all the baby clothes sized about the same or will I not know if it fits until he wears it? And what about shoes...is there somewhere that sizes baby feet? And what about the whole soft vs. hard shoe thing...he is almost walking (he took half a step then lunged) so which is better for him, or do I need some of both?

Sorry to ask so much but I am lost!

Where is the best place to buy toddler clothes/shoes?
My sister-in-law and I found some beautiful things at consignment shops for my niece and nephews when they were babies and toddlers. Try garage sales, thrift stores and yard sales too. For everyday clothes, babies and toddlers grow so fast; We found many outfits that retail $50 and up for $2-5 dollars, sometimes cheaper.
Reply:I agree on the second hand thing, like a Once Upon a Child. With everything being outsourced, and qualtiy gone down, its amazing how fast and how much new things shrink and hold stains. Also how the elastic gives as they wear them during the day and their pants fall down. We%26#039;ve rarely bought anything new, when we have its been shoes from Lands End, and also a jacket. We%26#039;re in Minnesota and the kids play outside alot in cold weather, so wanted to invest in coats we knew would be warm. (But I still rummage sale and look for these brands)

We%26#039;re the most happy with hand me downs from cousins on brands like Levis.
Reply:I shop too but find it hard too as I have 6 toes
Reply:I usually get my kids clothes at Mervyns, Target, and some stuff at Walmart. I get their shoes at the same stores and have even gotten a few at Payless. They grow out of the clothes so fast and their feet grow fast too.
Reply:With a child that age, why bother spending money on *new* clothes? Try a local thrift shop or Goodwill.
Reply:Try Babies R Us for shoes. There is a size chart there that you can use to determine the right size. He should have hard soled shoes by now. As for clothing, try to get his weight. Its easier to determine size by weight. Kohl%26#039;s has a good selection of clothes as well as Target. Good luck.
Reply:Wal-Mart. Good prices. Good enough quality, they wear clothes out fast anyway

Custom and excise charge on a parcel from a shop in america, babies dress small child shoes is this right?

Unfortunetly yes. I ordered a pair of Ugg boots from Australia for

£67.00 thinking i had a bargain and ended up paying £127.00 all together for postage and insurance and then i got hit with a customs and excise bill for another £21.00 which i had to pay or they would return my boots back to Oz and i would be liable for the return postage also!! So ended up paying nearly £150.00 for these bloody boots .....THAT ARE TOO BIG AND APPARENTLY FAKES!! Stick to uk buying or go on ebay for lower prices but only order within the EU.

How do I keep my kitten out of the boyfriend's shoes?

Now, hence his name, %26quot;Shoes%26quot;, why does my little baby boy keep sticking his nose in sweaty shoes?

How do I keep my kitten out of the boyfriend%26#039;s shoes?
To answer WHY is your kitty so interested in the shoes I have to ask are they leather shoes or part leather? I have found that cats are usually interested in shoes with leather that have been treated with some type of leather oil that they find appealing. I think the heat and sweat stirs up a little of the scent from the oil. Some leather oils have a fish base, which of course cats find appealing. We cannot smell it, but they sure can. I have seen cats go crazy with shoes, and there was even a briefcase that my cats would ravage, rolling and clawing on it. We thought that they had gone looney, but after smelling the leather closely we could faintly detect what they liked. That briefcase had to be safely guarded like you will have to with the shoes. Put them in a closet or somewhere that the kitty cannot find them.

Good luck!
Reply:bless i bet hes relly cute:

1.keep all show out of reach i.e buy a shoe rack.

2.blow in his face (GENTELY THOUGH)and tell him no at the same time cats hate that but they wont do it again.

my cat used to do the same thing. hope this helps. :]
Reply:at least he is not using them as a potty place
Reply:its simple really, hid your boy friends shoes (make sure you tell him where they are)
Reply:put rolled up newspaper in them or put them in a drawer.
Reply:Well when I had a cat if it did something it wasn%26#039;t supposed to do i would spray it with a squirt bottle. But you can%26#039;t always be there so try sprinkling some red pepper powder or anything spicy on the shoes. It worked for my cat. Just make sure you don%26#039;t put something to strong that will hurt the cat. But it has to be just strong enough for the cat to realize that he shouldn%26#039;t be chewing that.
Reply:My kitten loved to hide in shoes and we could never get him out and it is just to much work to keep moving them, my kitten, he never did any harm to them through so it didn%26#039;t really matter but when i got him a little pryamid bed thing he went there happy as anything, i think he just like hiding so don%26#039;t worry, you can always try to make his bed more atractive for him but at the end of the day no harm no foul, besides after a while i am sure he will get bored with them but may take a while
Reply:mine does that too! lol its sooooo sweet!!! =D

u could put them in a cupboard or closet or seperate room?? i wouldnt bother sprayin them but if u want u could!
Reply:i dont know but my cat does that sometimes also. what i do is take the shoes and put them in my closet. maybe he just wants to find a place to hide or something.
Reply:he must love the smell of ur boyfriends feet just make sure that he looks before he puts his shoes back on
Reply:Animals are really unique about what they like to smell. the best way to keep him away from the shoes is to put the shoes in a shoe rack. If he isn%26#039;t hurting the shoes, why not let him smell them? What%26#039;s a little shoe sniffing among friends?
Reply:my cat sniffs shoes, whether he likes the smell or not, he will fall asleep with his head in them. i think its a normal thing.

Should I buy something for her baby?

I have a cousin of mine who never bought me anything growing up. I never really thought much about it because it%26#039;s really up to that person, but she%26#039;s never shown any other way of showing generosity to me. When I was little, she treated me kind of bad, not all the time, but she just always gave me attitude and the whole family attitude. A lot of times, you can say she%26#039;s a bit......beechy. Anyways, she currently is pregnant and when she has her baby, should I buy something for the baby? I keep thinking of all those times she%26#039;s treated me horribly. If you were in my shoes, would you give the baby something?

Should I buy something for her baby?
well...it%26#039;s not the baby%26#039;s fault the moms a b*tch,no offense, but if you wanna be the bigger person then go ahead and get a gift and if there%26#039;s no appreciation then give up or confront her about it, maybe there%26#039;s a secret reason why she acts like that. My cousins are like that too so I gave up on them and we haven%26#039;t talked for close to 2 years, it%26#039;s sad. But if you see no point in being nice to her then don%26#039;t,maybe one baby gift is enough for the new family member if the mom acts bad.
Reply:If she%26#039;s just your cousin I%26#039;d say don%26#039;t worry about it...I never got any of my cousins gifts for anything...especially if her mom is a .....
Reply:being the bigger person is always a good thing! I would buy her something u dont have to spend alot jsut something to show ur congrats
Reply:The baby isn%26#039;t her. If she continues to be rude after having her child and doesn%26#039;t treat you any better, keep her at a distance and socialize only at family gatherings. Having children usually changes people for the better when it comes to family and relationships.
Reply:Tough one. Can you afford it? If so, than you should buy the baby a gift if you plan to visit it. Even if it is a small gift.
Reply:I know it%26#039;s hard but you just have to leave the past in the past and don%26#039;t come down to her level buy her baby something but don%26#039;t over spend then she might think twice about what she did in the past
Reply:you will love her baby no matter what so don%26#039;t hold anything against the baby because of his or her mom go ahead and be the bigger person and buy the baby something.
Reply:i would buy her something. it doesn%26#039;t have to be some big extravegant gift, but get something for the baby and hope that the child doesn%26#039;t turn out mean like its mother.

but, keep a close eye on this cousin of yours... motherhood seems to work wonders on people.

**
Reply:I think you should because even though she hasn%26#039;t been the nicest to you, you should. If you really don%26#039;t want to you could always think of it as buying the baby a present instead of her.
Reply:yessss deff what did the baby ever do to you!!! just make sure you cut of the tags and dont give a recipt bc if she is that kind of person she will try to return it for cash.

people these days!!!!
Reply:i would get something small. maybe an outfit or something. just try to forget about the past and move on. maybe having a child will make her a better person.
Reply:i have a friend just like this!

well...she aint my friend anymore.

stuff being the %26#039;bigger person%26#039; who takes notice of that anyway?

ive learnt that people never get involved and stand by the person doing the right thing anyway.

dont buy the baby anything, cut ties with her and try to forget about her totally so she can never hurt you again.

good luck!
Reply:I am sortve in your shoes... same situation and NO I am not buying her anything. She didnt even come to my baby shower- her mom did though. So My mom is going to her baby shower.. So I am leaving the buying up to my mother...

I know your thinking of the baby... But this shower is sortve for her... so.. yeah...
Reply:yea, i think you should... it would be like an olive branch between you...

she may have done bad things when she was younger.. but im guessing shes alot more grown up now.. and having a baby usually mellows people to...

I know with my older sister...I didnt get along with her great.. but now she has a baby.. she alot more.. ermm.. motherly! lol.. and were getting along really good

hope this helps

Reply:Probably not. But since your asking, you must care somewhat. So, just get something cheap. Get a pack of onesies or burp cloths or a cute chew toy thing. Nothing major.

Walking and shoes?

I know that it is better for baby to learn to walk without shoes, I believe, but everyone keeps telling me that my 11 month old son needs some good hard sole shoes. His father gets mad when I don%26#039;t put shoes on him. He bought some boots for him, but they are so bulky and they take 5 min. to put on. It has been winter, so he just wears socks and slippers when we go out. He is pulling up, but not yet walking, but should I buy shoes for him for going out? If so, what kind, soft, hard? I don%26#039;t likes those robezz, to me they are so ugly, no offense, but what should I do?

I do like the style of those converses, would that be good?

Walking and shoes?
try pedipeds.

http://www.pediped.com/Product/CategoryI...
Reply:We have 3 and I never used shoes with any of them until they could walk. I don%26#039;t like robezz either. If you choose shoes any pair will do but they outgrow them so fast. Try a discount place like maybe payless and see if you like their styles.
Reply:We bought some converse for pictures and they have a hard sole, but so far they haven%26#039;t helped my son learn how to walk. Out of all of the pairs we bought him the nike tennis shoes seem to be most comfortable for him. They are very flexible and don%26#039;t seem to bother him. Any other shoe he tries to take off immediately. Stride rite are very soft, too, but very expensive. We lucked out and found some on sale for cheap.
Reply:You should NOT put shoes on a baby until at least 1 month after they have started walking on their own. If he is still only pulling himself up and not even walking yet, then he does not need shoes.

Putting shoes on a baby that hasn%26#039;t even found his feet yet, will only harm the feet not help them. It can hinder growth and development and actually delay the walking process.

I would only be wearing soft soled slippers or pre-walkers at this stage when he goes out to keep his feet warm. Then about a month after he has been walking on his own, take him to a proper shoe shop and have him fitted for a proper pair of shoes. Its amazing how many people put ill fitting shoes on their children but will wear proper shoes themselves.

Good luck.
Reply:Barefoot when home or with just socks for learning to walk. When you are going out put what ever you think is cute on. The days of wearing hard soled shoes completely contradicts the barefoot theory and it is outdated. You can put what ever you want on your baby. I put cute sneakers on my little guy and now that he is 3 he choose his boots or sneakers.

You are dressing him, you decide!
Reply:My 11 month old is just starting to figure out waking, and will cruise around everything, so we decided it was time to buy him a pair of shoes. We bought a pair of soft sole trainers, put them on him, but he wouldn%26#039;t stand up in them. He would go to pull up, then would realize that his feet weren%26#039;t quite normal and stop. We even tried holding him up to get him to stand, and he just stuck his legs out and refused.

It is best for babies to learn how to walk with out shoes since that gives them the best sense of balance and helps them learn to stand and walk properly. Shoes are only every necessary as a form of protection either from the cold or if they are going to be walking around outside or somewhere else that they would really need shoes. If his feet are staying warm and protected with what you are doing now then you should be fine. Soft sole shoes will probably be easier to get on and off as well as feel more natural for your baby. When he starts running around everywhere and especially outside he%26#039;ll need the protection of hard soles, but for now it isn%26#039;t needed.
Reply:For both of ours, no shoes until they were walking.

In the winter- their snowsuits have a covering- and shoes wouldn%26#039;t fit in there anyway.

I think Mystic has it best...follow the links.

Good luck!
Reply:I never put shoes on my kids before they could walk, with the exception of special occasions (holidays). I just put socks on them to go out. I don%26#039;t like the Robeez either, you are right they are ugly! It is better for their feet to be left alone until they are able to hold their balance and walk :)
Reply:They shouldn%26#039;t wear any hard-soled shoes for as long as possible! They make it harder to learn to walk but even when he%26#039;s learned to walk more confidently, it%26#039;s better for the development of his feet and arches when he is either barefoot or, when you don%26#039;t want to go that far, wearing soft-soled shoes only. There are other brands than Robeez, of course I hope you find some you like but truly healthy development of your son%26#039;s feet should be more important than looking good!

Ask your husband to check out the short excerpt below, as well as the longer link in the source.

From Udaya Bhaskara Rao and Benjamin Joseph. %26quot;The Influence of Footwear on the Prevalence of Flat Foot,%26quot; The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, 74B(4), 1992, pp. 525-527.

%26quot; In Europe and America flat foot is a common reason for attendance at a children%26#039;s orthopaedic clinic, but in India children are seldom brought for treatment for flat foot. The few children who do attend with this complaint are from affluent urban families and they all wear shoes. In our clinic we have never seen a child from the farming community or from the family of a manual labourer who complained of flat foot.

...

The high concentration of flat foot among six-year-old children who wore shoes as compared with those who did not, implies that the critical age for development of the arch is before six years.

...

Our cross-sectional study suggests that shoe-wearing in early childhood is detrimental to the development of a normal or a high medial longitudinal arch. The susceptibility for flat foot among children who wear shoes is most evident if there is associated ligament laxity. We suggest that children should be encouraged to play unshod and that slippers and sandals are less harmful than closed-toe shoes.%26quot;
Reply:You need the softest sole possible that fits properly. Not all shoes fit all babies.

http://www.babycenter.ca/toddler/caringf...

A baby who’s just started walking takes 176 steps a minute!

Experts say that the longer a child is allowed to walk without shoes, the better as this will allow their feet to develop naturally. Certainly when your toddler starts learning to walk indoors, let her walk barefoot as long as the floor is clean and safe, as this allows the feet to develop and strengthen without restriction.

Once your baby can take a few steps confidently and may be walking outdoors on rough surfaces, protect her feet with early first shoes made of flexible, lightweight and natural materials, such as soft leather, with flexible soles and non-skid bottoms.

http://happyfeetz.com/category/how_to_ch...

Shoes are not corrective and the foot does not need support for normal activities. The foot requires mobility to function normally. It has been demonstrated that populations that are predominantly bare foot have better feet than those that wear shoes.

Children’s feet grow and develop rapidly. So choosing an appropriate child’s shoe is a very important task. While at home bare feet are fine.

http://www.footankle.com/pdf/Your_Chilre...

There is controversy regarding the appropriate shoes for children to wear as their feet grow and develop. Barring such problems as severe flat feet, or excessively flexible feet, it is perfectly appropriate to allow your child to be barefoot much of the time. Certainly while in the home environment, bare feet are fine. The goal of children wearing shoes is primarily to provide a protective covering for the foot. Once protected, the foot can develop into a healthy, functioning structure.

Shoe Recommendations Based on Age:

Crib Age: A loose fitting soft bootie

1—2 years: (toddlers) a flexible booty or shoe with a flat stable sole

2– 3 years: (running age) - a firmer yet still flexible bootie or shoe

3—4 years: a firmer shoe, bootie or possibly an athletic type of shoe.

4+ years: walking or athletic shoes are fine for this age group.

Footwear and Shoe Fitting

Children should not wear shoes at all until they can walk, so avoid pram shoes. For babies, avoid tightly wrapped blankets that prevent kicking and leg movement and avoid baby-grows (unless you cut the foot out).

Walking bare foot, where it is safe, is good for feet. Children’s feet are vulnerable to deformity from any ill-fitting footwear/hosiery until the bones are completely formed at about 18 years of age. Fitted socks made from natural materials are much better than stretch-fit socks.
Reply:I know that it is fine for a baby to learn to walk with shoes on... all of my children of walking-age did. Babies should wear shoes when they go out to protect their feet and keep them warm. I%26#039;d never take my baby out of the house without shoes on!

The best kind has soft sides with a rubber bottom that you can flex in your hands. Any brand will do as long as they are not overly heavy or bulky.
Reply:Don%26#039;t let other people tell you what kind of shoe to put on his feet. You are right, barefoot is best and I feel that slippers and socks sound just fine for going out. If you can find a soft-soled shoe for going out that would be good. http://www.platypaws.com/ these look cute
Reply:i suggest bare foot at home and socks only if you have carpet or you will find that he will be slipping over all the time.

I wouldn%26#039;t be putting heavy shoes on his feet until he is walking confidently because every time he lifts his foot it will throw him off balance and he will continue to fall over.

Go to your local department store and they will have a selection of baby shoes with soft soles. These are called pre-walkers and they will give your son a chance to get the feel for shoes without the heaviness. And they look just like kids shoes.

I have a pair for my 9 month old daughter.

she loves them and they are very cute.

brest cancer

Again me, the fever/another question about shoes?

the fever was 102,5, didnt check in a while, because he is sleeping here with daddy. he is doing fine and happy and ate and talked and smiled.

this morning i went to the supermarket and i saw 2 paramedics and i asked them about it and they said, a little tylenol and if it doesnt go down i should see a doctor in 2 days, but i will go tomorrow.

i read its better not to give medicin so the body can fight the virus better. what do you think?

now i have another question, i already asked about which shoes to buy for my baby who just started walking by himself, everybody suggested very soft and flexible shoes, so yesterday we went to stride ride and they said we have to get stage 3 for babys who walk alone, stage 2 is when they still hold someones hand, but, stage 2 is much flexible and softer then stage 3. we still bought stage 3 as they suggested it, should i go and change them, as eeeverybode sais the softest the better for beginning walkers (can walk by himself).

thanks again

Again me, the fever/another question about shoes?
Tylenol will help your baby feel better and bring the temperature down articificially. After the tylenol wears off, you may see his temperature rise again.

An antibiotic will fight an infection. I think that is what you are talking about when you refer to not giving medication so that the body can fight the infection on its own. Talk with your doctor, many times that is good advice. Sometimes it%26#039;s not.

As for shoes, talk with your doctor/pediatrican. You can%26#039;t really trust the people at Stride Rite stores. They might say they%26#039;re trained, but many have no clue what they%26#039;re talking about.

Ask your doctor what to look for in shoes.

Have fun with your baby!
Reply:Give him the tylenol, a high temperature can trigger febrile seizures, and then you%26#039;ll end up in the ER.

Since you already bought the stage 3 shoes, just keep them and see how your son does.
Reply:take the tylenol to bring the fever down as when my fever spiked to 104 I ended up with seizures for 39 years of my life. so take the tylenol to bring down the fever.
Reply:I remember when my daughter had a temp. we took her to the hospital and they told me to give her Tylenol and alternate with Motrin fever reducer every 6 hours I believe. I think it would be best to talk it over with your Doctor first about giving medicines for a virus before you believe an article you read somewhere. My kids hated shoes, when they started to walk. Soft shoes are probably more comfortable. My kids started walking in the summer time, so barefooted and or sandals worked for them. Back then (my kids are, 26, 22, 19) people didn%26#039;t make a big fuss about shoes unless they had something wrong with their gate (walk). My 7 year old wore soft tennis shoes. She breezed through the walking process pretty fast.

Would these shoes match this dress?

I%26#039;m a fashion nightmare, so I need some help. I have this 1940sish looking dress. It%26#039;s of a filmy, off white material. I%26#039;m trying to find a pair of shoes to match, and I was looking for a pair of pink shoes since I usually stick to pastel colors. But, I found these shoes, and they had a nice classic look to them. But, I need someones opinion. They are bright red, and I just wasn%26#039;t sure if they would work together color wise. Here%26#039;s the shoes:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Red-Baby-Doll-Retro-...

They have a retro flare, right? Will they go with an off white dress, if I get bright red accessories. Also, I always worry about red because I%26#039;m super white and freckly. Should I keep looking for pastels?

Would these shoes match this dress?
The shoes are cute however, for the color of dress you described I definately think a lighter(pastel) colored shoe would work best especially for this time of year. Have you considered lavender, or light turquoise or even a pale pink? (When in doubt black always works)
Reply:At first I was going to say stick with the pastels until you mentioned you are pasty... red shoes would be great if you have darker hair. If not then I would look for gold, teal, or Yellow.
Reply:those r sum UGLY shoes
Reply:Bright red with the dress would be amazing!! But those shoes are bleh!! Try some red peep toe heels like these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Red-Patent-Vintage-O...
Reply:they look good! ;)
Reply:Maybe a picture of the dress might help.
Reply:Off-white goes with pretty much anything, the shoes should work. Also, I%26#039;m a redhead and red looks great on me, so don%26#039;t be afraid to wear it!
Reply:Yes the shoes you picked out would go really well with that dress
Reply:Those shoes are ugly, sorry, I wouldn%26#039;t wear them but if you like it, wear them.
Reply:Definitely go for it. Red and any shade of white look amazing together, and I%26#039;d actually stay away from pastels--especially with your skin tone. You don%26#039;t want to look washed out. The red%26#039;ll make you pop. (An extra tip: wear bright red lipstick. Trust me, it looks good on pale people, I%26#039;m pale. It%26#039;s sophisticated and daring, something that many people shy away from.)
Reply:the shoes are nice and as far as being pale, if you are a brunette you can get away with it, blond or red, i wouldn%26#039;t try it, stick ewith pastels. God Bless!
Reply:Since you are really white I wouldn%26#039;t consider wearing red, it will make you look even whiter. I would suggest to wear it with pink or black. Those shoes are honestly horrible. They look like grandma%26#039;s shoes, no offense. If you want cheap shoes there are other shoes that are cheap and gorgeous.
Reply:This site has some good advice on shoes and other items (makeup, hair).

cant you get a bright red wedge heel

(that in bright red)
Reply:thats a fashion no no. wear anything but those awful shoes
Reply:well the shoes are okay but i wouldn%26#039;t wear them for myself but if you like it you should get it because i think white and red go toogether perfectly. if you need something to match it, use red (the same red as the shoes) and black acessories, that would look good!
Reply:yes .......... so cute
Reply:red is too blod for the out fit i suggest you stick w/ off white
Reply:The red shoes are cute, and they can go with a white dress. I would just wear all your other accessories (necklace, earrings, belt, etc) in black, so as to avoid looking like a candy cane. it also makes a really fashionable, put-together style.
Reply:I%26#039;m not crazy about the shoes, they look a little Dorothyish from Wizard of Oz. I would get something a little more summery.
Reply:those r cute shoes... can u post a pic of the dress? stick with red n black acessories, chunky red n black bracelets, black necklace, red purse, short red nails. forget the pastels, the red will b hot, just rock ur pale skin, im pale too, but hell, our skin will b in better shape later :)
Reply:im sorry, but i do not like those shoes, they are retro, but not in a good way.

also, the red with the off white might look like a picnic...

but you can totally do red accessories and shoes! i am pale and freckly and would totally wear red shoes, i just never happen to have enough money on me when i see red items i like!

since you have the dress already, stick with pastels i would say, or black. black patent leather wedges (i dunno if they will still be there, but i got the cutest black patent leather peep toe wedges at DEB)

good luck!

p.s. EMBRACE THE WHITE SKIN!! when we are old we will be laffing at all the other old ladies who were tan and are now facing the consequences of many wrinkles! MUAHAH!
Reply:Peep toe shoes would look great too.
Reply:picture of the dress?

My MIL always buys fancy frilly clothes for my baby and she doesn't wear them...should I say something?

My MIL and SIL love buying little outfits for my baby girl but they buy fancy frilly things like dresses with bonnets, impossible to put on shoes, and stiff items my baby can%26#039;t move in. I don%26#039;t dress my baby in them because she gets fussy when I %26quot;dress her up%26quot;. I just want her to be comforatable so she wears cotton onesies, cotton pants, stretchsuits etc. Shoes just get kicked off or don%26#039;t fit her little chubby feet to begin with. She hates hats/accessories etc. I know I am doing the right thing by dressing her for comfort and not treating her like a doll to play dress up with, but I feel awful that people buy her %26quot;pretty%26quot; things that just sit in the closet never to be worn, even once. One or two nice things for pictures is one thing, but an entire wardrobe of dresses is another. Should I say something to them so they don%26#039;t waste their money or should I let them have their fun and not ruin it for them? I mentioned how comfy she likes to be dressed but they ignored me/kept buying

My MIL always buys fancy frilly clothes for my baby and she doesn%26#039;t wear them...should I say something?
I hate that. People always buy those stupid outfits for baby showers and I have never used them either. My sister had a similar thing with room decor -- she%26#039;s an interior designer and she wanted to get me all of these things for the room that were really more for the adults%26#039; taste than anything a baby would enjoy. She kept sending me links to stuff. I had lots of necessities on my registry, so eventually I just pointed out that there were a lot of useful items we needed, and that I wanted to get those taken care of before I worried about decorations. She got the hint. But I see what you are saying -- lots of people just like shopping for cute baby stuff so maybe let them have their fun if there are not things that you really need instead.
Reply:I have a similar problem! I have family members that buy frilly (and UGLY) outfits for my daughter to wear along with shoes. My daughter is 6.5 months old and has never had a pair of shoes on her feet. I go with the comfy theme as well, cotton onesies, cotton pants, etc. The most dressed up she gets is a cotton dress with bloomers. I haven%26#039;t said anything because I don%26#039;t want to hurt their feelings. I figure I will have some nice items to donate to charity. People just love to buy baby clothes!! Good luck :)
Reply:You are doing the right thing by not dressing your little girl in these on a regular basis. You *have* mentioned how comfy she likes to be dressed and they ignored you.

If it were me, I%26#039;d put her in a few of the more comfortable dressy outfits and take a few pictures to give to MIL/SIL, but again reiterate how baby isn%26#039;t comfortable. If they ask when baby doesn%26#039;t wear the outfits more often, tell them that the scratchiness, etc, irritates your daughter.

Save one or two of the outfits as a keepsake for your daughter and sell the rest at consignment, garage sale, online auction, etc.

Best wishes with a difficult situation!
Reply:See if you can take it back to the store.
Reply:%26quot;I mentioned how comfy she likes to be dressed but they ignored me/kept buying%26quot;

Don%26#039;t ruin their fun. Not worth it. They%26#039;ll be mad at you, they won%26#039;t buy decent clothes. Just smile and thank them and shove the frilly fripperies off to your local baby consignment store.
Reply:I would mention it to them (AGAIN), but in a kind manner, of course. Just say your baby isn%26#039;t getting much use out of the beautiful, but frilly clothes. Mention casually in conversation that she loves onesies for everyday use and that as she gets older she may like to get dressed up more. You have to understand that they are just so excited to have a cute baby girl in the family.
Reply:you should probably tell that you like(appreciate) the dresses they buy but the baby gets sooo fussy when she is dressed up. tell them maybe when she is older she will like them better.
Reply:Let them have their fun. Donate your items to charity. There are people out there who can%26#039;t afford just one outfit to have pictures taken in. It%26#039;s a win win situation then.
Reply:Depends. If you could really use their help with buying clothes for you daughter, then I%26#039;d speak up. I%26#039;d say something like %26quot;I absolutely love the cute things you buy her, but honestly, I could really use some soft onsies with pants or sleepers....you know how fast babies grow!!!%26quot;

If you don%26#039;t need the clothes, then don%26#039;t say anything. If I were you in that situation, I would keep a few outfits in case the MIL insists on seeing her wear some of it...and sell the rest on Ebay....you could make enough to buy her a wardrobe she%26#039;d actually wear!!!!
