ok....I have some questions and they may sound dumb. When my baby is home from the hospital and is a couple weeks old. Do you have them wear shoes when you take them out to the store, to the doc, to grandmas ect? Or do they just wear socks? When is the earliest they can swim in chlorine (i know they have infant swim classes). Also, I am due in May so baby will be small when its really hot, how long can they be outside in the shade?
Questions about basic baby stuff, please answer though?
We put shoes on our baby only for "pictures" and such, other than that she wore just socks. They have soft sole shoes that even at 9 months she loves them and they wear like socks.
6 months is the earliest I've ever seen a swim class let a baby join so I assume 6 months.
Not sure about outside in the shade... depends on how hot is hot. As long as you watch them and make sure that they are not getting over heated they should be fine.
Reply:hi firstly u can get some bootys for the little one to put on its feet swimming i would say after there first immunimisations and in the summer i wouldnt leave them outside for long at all when u go out make sure they are shaded
Reply:When they are that little you can put shoes on them because they are cute, but so not needed. My daughter is 13 months and still doesn't wear shoes. As for the swimming, I don't really know, I think the chlorine is fine at any age, I would ask your pediatrician. I never really kept my daughter out in the sun for longer than half and hour and when she was outside she was always wearing a hat.
Reply:when my son was a newborn i just put socks on him. %26amp; once he started getting older i picked up a couple pair of the soft soled shoes %26amp; he only really wore them for special occations, or i put them on him when it was really cold just for an extra layer %26amp; took them off when we got where we were going!!
im not sure about the swimming thing, i'd figure atleast 3 or 4 months %26amp; even then not for more than 10-15mins, but dont hold me to that because i have no cluee! but i figure you could get one of those blow up pools from walmart or where ever %26amp; just put your regular tap water in it %26amp; they could go to town.
%26amp; as long as their in the shade, they could be out as long as you want, unless its really hot, youd want to take them into a cool airconditioned place to cool off! %26amp; being as young as yours will, keep atleast a onesie or a little thin shirt on them to absorb the sweat or they'll get a horrible heat rash!! %26amp; keep them well hydrated (: good luck
Reply:You don't have to put them in shoes, socks are fine, but shoes are cute. Though they can get in the way during diaper changes and such. As for chlorine, you should wait until about 6 months. You can take them outside right from the beginning. Just make sure that they've got their face covered, either by a hat or the shade on their stroller, and make sure that you've got some baby sunscreen.
Reply:DO NOT MAKE THE BABY WEAR SHOES UNTIL IT LEARNS TO WALK.let the baby wear socks only when it is extremely cold or they may feel uncomfortable.Show your new baby to the early morning sunlght,it is very good for her eyes.In the bigginning she may not open her eyes but later she will.Do this for five to ten minutes.Avoid allowing the baby n late afternoon sun.As for swimming, its better if they start of after one year.
Reply:i have a ten month old son who hates to have anything on his feet including socks but when he was a nb booties are fine
Reply:sun is good for your baby especially if bf. it helps them produce vitamin d which breast milk lacks. my son never wears shoes he is 8 weeks.
Reply:As far as shoes go my baby was a spring baby and she didn't even wear socks half of the time, now that it is cold out she is wearing socks, and haven't put her in shoes. A lot of moms will try shoes when baby starts to walk. I'm not sure about the swim question try calling the place were you know the classes are offered. The sun, I would take my baby out when the sun was still low and made sure she had on a floopy hat and would let her play under the tree, we would also touch the tree, the leaves, the grass, etc. When it was really hot out she wouldn't go outside unless it was in the car, to where ever then back to the car. My baby is a May baby also. We went to the apple patch this year and it was really hot out, I put her in a bucket hat and a jumper with a oneise on, towards the middle of our day I took the jumper off and she just was in her oneise, also I took a cool baby wipe and stuck it under her hat, she seemed fine. A spring baby is great!
Reply:slippers are fine too.my youngest hates anything on his feet even in the winter.i'd wai til baby was 1 yr before introducing him/her to chlorine.30 minutes outside is what ive been told by my doc.put baby suntan lotion on whether you are in the shade or not,and a hat just to make sure since they have very sensitive skin.be careful:)
Reply:Nope, no shoes. They're actually not good for prewalkers and soft shoes are best for walking kids (when it's cold).
Barefeet or socks are best.
