Ok, my folks took me to a shoestore when I was a baby and were told not to put "real" shoes on me till I was at least 2 years old because infants/ toddlers' bones are still soft till at least that age and anything other than socks, booties, and other softer, less binding materials would cause the bones to form to the shape of the shoe and would result in foot problems later in life.
So- is this true? Part bull/ part true? If anyone knows please tell me. I have an argument to settle.
Do the bones in your feet change shape if you are put into shoes before the age of 2?
Yes, the babies foot changes shape completly! So babies are different, some can have heart shaped feet, or diamond shaped feet...or some...even trinagular shaped...yup its true! And i aslo heard that their feet grow 6 sizes in 2 months if you do that! So u better not try it......
Reply:To be safe ask a doctor.
Reply:THEY ONLY NEED SHOES WHEN THEY ARE WALKING, TO PREVENT FROM GETTING THEIR FEET HURT. THEN USE THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED BABY [WHITE] TIE UP SHOES,
Reply:sounds like bunk to me. if they can walk, they need shoes.
Reply:Yes.
Reply:It does depend on how good a fit the shoes are. Certainly, children's feet can be damaged by badly fitting shoes, and they should only be used for outside.
Reply:BULL.
Once your child takes his first momentous steps, he's ready for his first pair of shoes. Until then, he'll just need some socks or booties to keep his tootsies warm when it's cold. In fact, even after your child's racing around, it's a good idea to let him go barefoot whenever it's safe. He'll enjoy the sensation of various surfaces (soft sand, lush carpet, cool tile) beneath his feet, and a barefoot base will him build strength and coordination in his legs and feet, too. For places where he'll need protection, though (outdoors or on a splintery surface, for example), get him a pair of comfy shoes that will aid his toddling efforts.

I have always thought that a barefooted baby out in public is tacky and put soft moccasin type shoes, Robeez or Bobux, on my kids. Just a matter of taste and preference really.
