Tying Shoes with One Hand?

Hey. I am a 14 year old guy and I only have one arm. My right arm was amputated when I was a baby. I have learned to do things in my own way forever but there is one thing I haven't figured out yet. How to tie my shoes. It may sound stupid for a 14 year old to not know how to tie his shoes, but it's just something I haven't taken time to learn. Up until I was 10 I wore Velcro and now my mom double knots the strings so they don't come undone for a long time. Does any one know any good, tight, and easy ways to tie shoes with one arm?

Thanks.

Tying Shoes with One Hand?
i think you should just practice on your own tying your shoes the regular way, i'm positive you can do it. i just tried and it worked! good luck to you!
Reply:Years ago I broke my right arm, which turned me into a lefty. Most of my shoes are tie ups, while I didn't mind slip ons, I preferred my tie shoes, so I learned. It took some practice, but I had to separate the tying process into individual steps, and I did manage a tight bow that lasted all day. Sometimes I can't manage an all day bow, with both hands. I'm sorry to tell you that its easier to show you how to tie with a single hand, than it is to tell you how to do it in words.

1. begin the lash over and lash under with your strings. Holding the left string down against the shoe with the heel of your hand, use your thumb and fore finger to pull the right string upward to tighten the initial lash.

2. I would create a bow by folding the right string over on top of itself.

3. Using the baby finger to hold the newly created bow in place. I would form a pretty large bow with my thumb and forefinger.

4. I'd take the left bow and flop it over the top of the right bow,and then using the forefinger, tuck it beneath the right bow until it appeared from beneath my thumb.

5. Holding the old and still in place right side bow with my baby finger, I'd grasp the peek through bow with my thumb and forefinger.

6. slipping my pinky into the inside of the right bow, I would then pull the other side outward towards my body until I got the desired tightness.

I works, It just takes practice, I tied my shoes for three months this way.
Reply:wow, im sorry to hear about your arm. I really have no idea how to tie shoes with one hand, but I do know that sketchers is coming out with "bungees" shoes that don't need tying, adn they're not like velcro, you just slip them on and they won't fall off. Also, you could try google, one handed shoelace tying. Sorry I'm not much of a help.
Reply:I'm sorry to hear this, someone can it for you or you can have some practices when you're free. God bless you

Reply:i have a friend with the same probelm, i think you should get the sprial laces that just cling togather and it is very easy,
Reply:I have no idea sweetheart, but if your laces come untied at school, ask some chicks to help you out. Then make a little joke and make them laugh. You might not figure out the laces, but I'm sure you will get a girlfriend first!
