I found a liter of baby mice in my house, I don't know what to do with them.?

My husband and I just moved in to an older house. In the past 2 days we have found to momma mice with babies. The first one we successfully swept out the door with a baby in her mouth never found the nest.

The very next day we were unpacking a box and found a mother nursing 5 babies, the mom ran and now we have 5 baby mice. ( Don%26#039;t know if this is the same mouse, but doubt it)

We have looked all over the house for her and set some live traps out. Currently the babies are in a shoe box.

Part of me would like to just flush them and get it over with the other part I would like to see if we can catch the mom and reunite them.. I have not handled them as they are to small and i don%26#039;t think that they will make it till tomorrow. They are feisty..

Their eyes are still closed..

The other issue is I%26#039;m afraid to sleep as I don%26#039;t want anything crawling on me at night!! I swear something crawled across my face the other night and I couldn%26#039;t go back to bed.

We have birds and no pets allowed

If you want to save them, then you need to act quickly. I really don%26#039;t know what to do, but here are some links. The first one is more informative...the second basically explains not to feed them cow%26#039;s milk unless absolutely necessary. But since their eyes aren%26#039;t even open yet, you don%26#039;t have very long to save them!

I personally hope you succeed. We had mice in our house last year (after a repairman accidentally smashed a hole into our wall...mice came in and reproduced!). I set out live traps too, and kept on trapping until they were all caught. I did find a nest of babies that I ended up taking care of for a while, but their eyes were all open so they were more developed and hardier than the ones in your care.

Email me if you want to...and good luck!

Reply:One mouse can make 6 mice every 45 days, your not depriving the world, set up bait traps and get rid of them!
Reply:the mom will not come back so you can flush them or you can wait they will most likely die by morning. they may have deseases that you do not want. Do not handle them. sorry I know this must be unpleasent I would have a lot of trouble doing that.
Reply:Call an exterminator out to your house. The mice will chew up your whole house making nests everywhere. It might sound cruel but it%26#039;s either them or you.
Reply:Drown them or give them to a bass fisherman. They make great bait.
Reply:your local pet store that keeps serpents would love to have them, however if youre tender hearted you might call the spca although they may laugh at you.
Reply:Being they have been moved, chances are mom will not go back with her babies. That young of mice rarely live even with eyedropper %26amp; milk. You can toss babies outside for stray cats to eat or whatever. Set basic mouse traps for catching additional mice. You don%26#039;t want sticky strips or poison that your birds may get into it.

I really doubt that a mouse walked across your face. They have been known to get onto a bed but not linger up there when people are there. They are afraid of you, too.

As far as the concern of all the diseases you might contract from touching a mouse. If that is the case, I would have been dead or deathly ill before age 18 %26amp; never reached the age of ol%26#039; fart. Mice may have lice, etc.. or even a disease same as stray cats/dogs, wild birds, and let%26#039;s not forget the well cared for pets, too. Just wash your hands %26amp; don%26#039;t fret over that part.
