Can mold, fungi, mould growing in the flat be unhealthy for our 2 months old baby?

My husband and I moved to a new flat before our baby was born, however the location is near forest, it is very dump and recently we noticed mold growing in our bedroom, even in our wardrobe. I have got headaches from the smell, allergy like symptoms, there is mould behind our bed, even in the wardrobe and our shoes, suitcases and even baby%26#039;s pram is covered with a green mould. Can it be harmful?

Can mold, fungi, mould growing in the flat be unhealthy for our 2 months old baby?
yes yes yes yes yes.....omg yes..
Reply:Yes it can be very harmful.

Your local enviromental health dept will be able to help you.

Your doctor and health vistor will also be able to offer valuable advice.

Good luck

Congrats on new baby
Reply:You are living in a very dangerous environment %26amp; will be extremely unhealthy on your entire family especially a new baby. Look for a new place to live immediately and get out of there. The landlord doesn%26#039;t have a leg to stand on especially if you bring in the health authorities.
Reply:Mold first attacks your sinuses nose, throat, and ears. Then it attacks your organs. Then death. This is true.
Reply:yes it is bad. your baby is breathing in those spores and with such an undeveloped immune system you are asking for trouble. we don%26#039;t have children but we just moved out of a flat like this for our own health!
Reply:YES. The baby can breathe in the spores if any are in the air and this can lead to a lot of health problems.
Reply:This is a VERY SERIOUS situation!!!

Tell the landlord/lady about the mold and mildue and demand something be done. If they refuse to do anything about it, I would call an attorney and hold the rent money in escro (talk to your bank about that).

Meanwhile, look for another place!!!
Reply:YES
Reply:Yes it can be. Nor is it very nice! I recommend that you call a damp/fungi/mould specialist to come and look at it. In the mean time, you, your husband and your baby should stay somewhere else if possible, if not, go into a room where there isnt any.

You can find damp specialists in your local Yellow Pages or on: http://www.yell.com

But having mould on everything surprises me, move everything out of your bedroom that hasn%26#039;t been covered in mould yet.
Reply:yes it can, it can cause all sorts of problems like breathing and chest problems i had it in my flat when my daughter was 6 months old and she ended up in hospital with bronchitis it didn%26#039;t cause it but the doctors said it didn%26#039;t help either get in touch with the council or your landlord/lady and get them to sort it out asap
Reply:Black mold can be harmful to lungs. I dunno about green but it doesn%26#039;t sound pleasant. Use bleach to kill molds but make sure you have good ventilation (windows open, fans on) and don%26#039;t clean with the baby nearby.

Try to dry out the dampness with a %26quot;dehumidifier%26quot;. It%26#039;s an appliance that effectively removes moisture from the air and you%26#039;ll have to empty the water it collects each day. They cost from $100-300 but you could probably find one used and they make a great difference.
